To expire a vacancy:
- Select a Request Number in Pending Recruitment status from the Request tab on the Dashboard.
- Click the Vacancy Number link in the Vacancy Created section.
- Select Expire from the Status drop-down list. Please note, once a vacancy has been expired there is no way to restore the vacancy.
- The confirmation message “Are you sure you want to expire the Vacancy?” displays.
- Click Yes.
Notes:
- A vacancy cannot be restored once it has been expired.
- The expiration date is automatically set for 365 days from the date the last certificate was issued or if a user indicates a date the vacancy should be expired.
- An announcement cannot be updated to USAJOBS.
- The USAJOBS Job Status will automatically update to Hiring complete.
- Vacancies in an expired status allow certificates to be issued and selections to be made from an expired vacancy.
- Additional selection requests cannot be linked to an expired vacancy.
- If there are active and unreturned reviews, they are recalled from Hiring Manager users, all “Make and Return Selection” and “Return Review” tasks are moved into a Cancelled status. The review status is recalled and the HR user can see a banner in the review that states it was recalled due to the vacancy being expired. HR can re-issue or create new reviews, if desired.
- Vacancies with issued certificates will remain in Active status until the expiration date of the vacancy is reached. Therefore, even if a new hire record and the request are in Complete status, the Vacancy will stay in Active status until the expiration date passes.
