Passing Score Criteria

The Passing Score Criteria page is where you review and modify the passing score criteria for the assessment. To access this page, select a Request Number in Pending Recruitment status from the Dashboard, click the Vacancy Number link in the Vacancy Created section, click the Assessment Package tab, click Assessment Plan, click Assessment Name link, an assessment specific tab will display, and click Passing Score Criteria. You can sort any of the columns in this table in ascending or descending order. The following elements may be displayed based on the assessment type selected:

Passing score page

  • Series. This column displays the series associated with this assessment. Note Interdisciplinary positions will display all series grouped together by grade level.
  • Grade. This column displays the grade(s) associated with the assessment.
  • Specialty. This column displays the specialty (if any) associated with the assessment.
  • Raw Score. This column displays the raw score range for each rating combination, which is based on the Rating Criteria for the competencies being assessed.
  • Passing Score. This column indicates the passing score assigned to each rating combination, if the Assessment Package includes multiple ones. The Passing Score must be within the raw score range and will establish the threshold (on a raw score basis) that applicants must reach to pass the assessment.
    • Applicants who score above the passing score will be considered eligible and receive transmuted scores between 70 and 100. Applicants who fall below the passing score will receive an ineligible rating with a NOR code of IQAQ - You are ineligible to proceed in the hiring process because you did not attain the overall passing score on the application questionnaire for the position.

Note: Passing scores should be established through a rigorous process involving job experts (subject matter experts) and assessment experts (e.g., I/O psychologists). The process involves identification of the minimum level of proficiency for required competencies for a specific position or job series and grade, and the minimum score necessary on the Assessment Questionnaire items to demonstrate the minimum required proficiency.
