USA Staffing TrainingLive USA Staffing training classes are available for new USA Staffing users only. These trainings are intended to cover basic system functionality. Sessions will not include agency-specific business processes. Training sessions fill up fast; the dates listed below may or may not have availability. For additional information on training availability or to enroll users, please contact your Account Manager. Staffing and OnboardingThe Staffing and Onboarding training will walk users through the USA Staffing system from Request through EOD. Please note that users must complete the 8 online training modules prior to being registered for this training.
Onboarding OnlyThe Onboarding Only training is intended for users creating new hire records and assigning tasks and workflows. It is not intended for onboarding users using the system in limited ways such as benefits and security users that are only reviewing and signing documents. This training covers basic onboarding system functionality including: assigning tasks and workflows, sending tentative and final job offers, completing questionnaires, reviewing and approving forms, and transmitting to eOPF. Please note that users must complete the New Hire online training module prior to being registered for this training.

Cognos Reporting User TrainingReporting user training is held virtually and is for either new Consumer users or new Report Authors (depending on the training). Cognos Consumer TrainingFor Consumer users, this course will provide a background on how to successfully navigate Cognos to run reports from USA Staffing. This training is an online, self-paced training and is approximately 4 hours long. No pre-registration is required to complete this training. The training is available on the USA Staffing Online Course Portal at: https://usastaffing.usalearning.gov/login/index.php Follow the instructions in the Accessing the Virtual Cognos Consumer Training document. Cognos Report Author TrainingFor users with Cognos Report Author permissions, this course will provide a background on how to successfully use Cognos to create custom reports and modify existing standard reports. The training is an online, self-paced training and is approximately 6 hours long. No pre-registration is required to complete this training. The training is available on the USA Staffing Online Course Portal at https://usastaffing.usalearning.gov/login/index.php. Follow the instructions in the Accessing the Virtual Cognos Author Training document. |
Power BI Reporting User TrainingReporting user training is held virtually and is for either new Consumer users or new Report Authors (depending on the training).
Power BI Consumer TrainingFor Consumer users, this course will provide a background on Power BI concepts, navigating the Power BI Service, setting up report subscriptions, exporting data from reports, and how to use both paginated and interactive reports. This training is an online, instructor-led training and is approximately 2 hours long. Registration is required for this training via USA Staffing Account Managers and is completed on a first come, first served basis. Additionally, users must have verified the ability to access USA Staffing Power BI prior to the training to minimize time spent troubleshooting access issues during the training.
Power BI Author Training: Self-PacedFor Power BI report authors, this training sets the stage for instructor-led Power BI author training by introducing users to the powerful new features of Power BI. The full self-paced training series will include 4 modules, aimed at providing Authors with the expertise needed to effectively create, manage, and share reports in Power BI, and empowering users to work more efficiently and with greater flexibility. Modules 1 and 2 are pre-requisites to registration and participation in the instructor-led Power BI Author Training. No pre-registration is required to complete the self-paced training modules. Power BI Author Training: Instructor-LedFor Power BI report authors, this training will provide a background on how to successfully use Power BI in the online service, Report Builder app, and Power BI Desktop app to create custom reports and modify existing standard reports. This training is an online, instructor-led training hosted on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 1:00 to 3:00 PM ET. Registration is required for this training via USA Staffing Account Managers and is completed on a first come, first served basis. Prior to registration, users must have completed Power BI Consumer Training and Modules 1 and 2 of the self-paced Power BI Author Training on the USA Staffing Online Course Portal.

Reporting ForumReporting Consumer ForumThese forums provide report consumers with the opportunity to ask outstanding questions, develop a deeper understanding of the business intelligence tools (Power BI and Cognos) as used to access and run existing reports, and request demonstrations of consumer functionality. These forums are 1 hour long and will take place at 11:00 AM ET on the third Thursday of each month. The agenda for the forums is determined by the participants. We may come to the forum with a new tip to share, but the main purpose is to respond to questions and requests for demonstrations. No registration is required to participate in the forums, however participants with questions about Cognos should have already completed Cognos Consumer Training (virtual or instructor-led) prior to attending. Questions or requests for demonstrations may be sent to USAStaffingData@opm.gov. If/when submitting a question/request, please send it no later than two days prior to the forum. Previously asked questions (as well as our responses) can be reviewed in the Consumer Forum Q and A document on the Training & Resource Material page on the USA Staffing Data Resource Center. Reporting Author ForumThe USA Staffing Program Office conducts a virtual forum so report authors can meet with our data team to ask questions about report-building techniques in Cognos and Power BI. These hour-long forums are hosted on the first Thursday of each month at 11:00 AM ET. Registration is not required. Meeting information, including the link to log in to the forum, is sent 1-2 weeks in advance of each forum to all individuals that meet one or more of the following criteria:
