Announcement Location
The Announcement Location page is where you add and view the geographic locations that will appear on the job announcement. If a location was entered in the Request, it will automatically populate on this page. Geographic locations are used for various purposes. USAJOBS uses geographic locations to match job announcements to job seekers' search criteria. USA Staffing uses geographic locations to show on the job announcement where the positions are located. Finally, applicants use geographic locations during the application process to indicate the locations for which they would like to be considered for employment. To access this page, select a Request Number in Pending Recruitment status from the Dashboard, click the Vacancy Number link in the Vacancy Created section, click the Announcement tab, and click Announcement Location. If there are multiple locations selected, you can sort any of the columns in this table in ascending or descending order. For the basic display of the announcement information, see Announcement. If you want to add specific information about a location, select the gear icon in the same row as the location to add a custom location label. The following elements are displayed on this page:
- Set Number of Vacancies By. This drop-down list allows you to indicate if you would like to specify the number of vacancies per location or the total number of vacancies for the announcement.
- Total Vacancies. If Announcement is selected from the Set Number of Vacancies By drop-down list, this field displays. This field allows you to specify the total number of vacancies for the announcement. You can enter a numeric value, Few, or Many.
- Find Location. This field allows you to search for a location by City, Zip Code, County, Country, or Location Code. For instructions, see Adding an announcement location.
- Add Location. This button appears once a location has been found and must be clicked to add the location to the table below.
- Vacancies. If Location is selected from the Set Number of Vacancies By drop-down list, this field displays and is required when adding a location.
Once a location is added, the table at the bottom of the page displays the following fields:
- Gray Box. A check-mark in this box indicates the location will be deleted. Locations can only be deleted before the announcement opens and applicants apply. At least one location must be associated with the announcement. For instructions, see Deleting an announcement location.
- Location Label. This column only displays if a label has been added to at least one location. Location labels should be used to provide applicants with specific information about where a position is located. This field has a 30-character limit. See Gear Icon below for more details. For instructions, see Adding an announcement location label.
- City. This column displays the city name(s) of the location(s) added to the announcement.
- State. This column displays the State(s) of the U.S. location(s) added to the announcement.
- Country. This column displays the Country of the location(s) added to the announcement.
- County. This column displays the County of the U.S. location(s) added to the announcement.
- Code. This column displays the 9-digit GSA Geo Location Code (GLC) or Zip Code of the location(s) added to the announcement.
- Gear Icon. This icon allows you to add a custom label to the associated location. Any Location Label added will display in Label, City, State format.
- Delete Selected. This button will display when a check is placed in the Gray box box next to a location. For instructions, see Deleting an announcement location.
Once the announcement is released and open on USAJOBS, the following field will display:
- Disable. A check in this box indicates the location will be disabled from appearing on USAJOBS. Disabling a location removes the location as an option listed on USAJOBS; however, it will not remove the location from the locations listed during the application process. USA Staffing will continue collecting applications for all locations when the announcement was first released and opened, including disabled locations. For instructions, see Disabling an announcement location
Notes:
- Locations and Location Labels are locked down after an announcement is released and open to USAJOBS.
- The Anywhere in the U.S. (remote job) location will be the only location available when the vacancy is designated as Remote Job.
