The Request Location Information page is where you add and view the geographic locations that will appear on the job announcement. Geographic locations are used for various purposes. USAJOBS uses geographic locations to match job announcements to job seekers' search criteria. USA Staffing uses geographic locations to show on the job announcement where the positions are located. Finally, applicants use geographic locations during the application process to indicate the locations for which they would like to be considered for employment. To access this page, click Create Request from the Request tab on the Dashboard, complete the Request Information page, click Save and click Location Information. The following elements are displayed on this page:

Requests Location Page

  • Set Number of Vacancies By. This drop-down list allows you to indicate if you would like to specify the number of vacancies per location or the total number of vacancies for the announcement.
  • Total Vacancies. If Announcement is selected from the Set Number of Vacancies By drop-down list, this field displays. This field allows you to specify the total number of vacancies for the announcement. You can enter a numeric value, Few, or Many.
  • Find Location. This field allows you to search for a location by City, Zip Code, County, Country, or Location Code. For instructions, see Adding a request location.
  • Vacancies. If Location is selected from the Set Number of Vacancies By drop-down list, this field displays and is required when adding a location.
  • Add Location. This button must be clicked to add the selected location to the request.

Once a location is added, the table at the bottom of the page displays the following fields and may be sorted in ascending or descending order:

  • Vacancies. If Location is selected from the Set Number of Vacancies By drop-down list, this column displays the number of vacancies indicated for each location added to the announcement.
  • City. This column displays the city name(s) of the location(s).
  • State. This column displays the State(s) of the U.S. location(s).
  • Country. This column displays the Country of the location(s).
  • County. This column displays the County of the U.S. location(s).
  • Code. This column displays the 9-digit GSA Geo Location Code (GLC) or Zip Code of the location(s).
  • Delete Selected. This button will display when a check is placed in the Gray box box next to a location. For instructions, see Deleting location information from an incomplete request.
  • Delete Request. This button allows you to delete an incomplete request. For instructions, see Deleting an incomplete request.
